Indecipherable child / oh my broken thing with a soul / You the darkest of dreams / My sweet and tender ghoul // Oh unsufferable prince / You’ve been building your star / By the shores of a burning sea / My sweet and tender me // What to do with the sun / when he’s only a kid with a gun? / What to do with the sun? / What to do with the tide / When she’s only in it for the ride? / What to do whit the tide? // Yes, I know who I am / I’m all of you, gentlemen / And all you ladies, too / My sweet and tender who // Irresistible thee / Oh my softest touch on the ground / Fallen there from the last of the trees / My sweet and darkest peach // Yes, you know who you are / And how to play with a star / Yes you know who you are.

Well the splendid isolation / Is turnin’ me into some kind of shark / One thousand pounds of tense blue meat / From the depths of your water park / Well the splendid isolation / Four hundred sea miles into land / Far from the killing waves of justice / And the boilin’ of the water den / Turned into a shark // Where did I leave my cigarettes? / Can you please just call me back? / Agein’ motherfucker cooking macaroni / Somewhere there in the pitch black night / Yeah, he’s gone to Abyssinia / Without a ticket or a note / And everywhere he looks just the madness of earth / And a desert of pure white coal / Turned into a shark / Yes I know that you been sufferin’ too / Yes, I give a fuck or two / But I was kicked out from that beach, remember? / Still tangled in the big fuck you / Yes I know you’ve had some problems / Someone’s pointing at the TV sky / And It’s you handcuffed to a risin’ moon / Forever changing the tides in the tea / So sorry it’s no longer my cup… // So I welcome the tornadoes / And I welcome the hi-jacks / And I welcome starvation / Mass shootings and police trucks / And I welcome all the nukin’ / Of the occidental mind / All the borders trespassed / Cathedral occupied / By the vegans & the mutant rats / Yes I welcome all the fear / So you can maybe understand / While I roam beneath with my cold, cold eye / Nobody can longer track / Turned into a shark // All this useless information / Turned me into iridescent dust / I’m just like you now, trapped between / The earth and the absence of sea.

I left my home and headed for the sinkin’ sun / Hitchhiked my way through waves of chewin’ gum / Did we hear the same call, baby? / How could the radio be wrong? / We met at a fallin’ diner, we both knew / We were the chosen ones / ‘Til morning rose on this Blue California Son // We were still somehow together / when we reached the golden shore / Nobody there to witness / Me the crash & you the roar / But you headed for the mountains soon / & I’m still stuck in the hills / Saw your face in each and every / Of my fadin’ dollar bills / ’Til morning rose on this Blue California Son // Well Dingo Kid met Johnny last night / They had a pipe to share / & they kept looking for Golden Tooth / but she lived no longer there / Yeah, you made friends with all the midnight creeps / Bone was feeble but marrow deep / And all they really need is talkin’ / And well… all you can do is talk & talk & talk & talk / ‘Til morning rises on this Blue California Son // Oh have you ever heard ‘bout Lil’ Cali Ray? / She got eaten by a giant whale / But she rose back from the dead / She has a party with her friends out there / In the joint round the corner / And the sound feels like summer comin’ / Oh boy, it’s getting’ warmer, warmer / ’Til morning rises On this blue California son // Oh velvet smiles & crashing dreams / Oh purple Haze & burning wings / Come Lick it from me, babe / Come in & lick me clean / Cover my body in your spit once more / On this blue California sun // Sold my soul to many dealers / In the backyards, down the road / Now they’re all fightin’ each other / Who’s the Devil and who’s not / But you have to wake up early / Yeah, you have some bills to pay / And the ocean line is achin’ /And I don’t know what to say / ’Til morning rises on this blue California Sun // Oh velvet smiles & crashing dreams / Oh purple Haze & burning wings / Come Lick it from me, babe / Come on, just lick me clean / Cover my body in your spit once more / On this blue California sun.

Oh, feelin’ low / Watchin’ the ghost of the industrial coast, yeah / Gettin’ tired / The water-sun is by my side / Oh, gettin’ bored / Watchin’ the ghost of the industrial coast, yeah // They say do this, do that, my son / But they’re missin’ all the fun / They say come here, go there, my son / But they’re missin’ all the fun / Can’t see the problem with bein’ all alone? / You miss the danger - you’re missin all the fun / The curse, the blessing, the fear is gone / Come on - You’re missin’ all the fun / Uhhhhh - The industrial coast / Uhhhhh - The holy fuckin’ ghost // They come to me to find the water-sun / It’s in my pocket, I’m owning all the fun / The breeze the hills, the drugs, the shiny guns / All in my pocket, here inside the song / So dance to the water glyphs / Over the mountains and into the sea / Dance to the water glyphs / Over the bodies of your enemies // They tell you “here” but can’t you here the hum? / I’m in the corner, im bringin’ back the fun / So see me shine cuttin’ through the shore / I’m the Rasta Magus, I own the water-sun / And dance to the water glyphs / Over the mountains and into the sea / Dance to the water glyphs / Over the bodies of your enemies.

Wave has to learn how to move from her / Walking down the street for some cigarettes / Crashing at the local pub / Transfiguring the regulars… // Moon has to learn how to dress from her / Liquid neon – icy stare / Thin line between Africa and / Martin Heidegger // And she loves driving away / To a desert shore / Barefoot among the seashells / Transfiguring the Animal / Transfiguration & Petroglyphs // Wave has to learn how to move from her / Walking down the street for some cigarettes / Crashing at the local pub / Transfiguring the regulars… / Transfiguration & Petroglyphs.

Lovers Once 04:14
So we talked ourselves into the night / In the kitchen with my sister / How everything’s a little upside down / Now we have the kids and the steady jobs / Sister’s always cool / Like the lasting sparkle of a violet eye / And everything around us / Was getting out of sight / And you looked a lot like Lana / In a golden synth wave California light // So I went to bed and thought about you naked / Hissin’ as a baby leopard over me / And I couldn’t get all the talk but it was / Crystal clear as a rolling stream / Flowing down the canyon / And right into my soft porn dreams / And you looked a lot like Lana / In a golden synth wave California light // Next day we were supposed / To head north for the beaches / But you got a call from work and had to go / So sister and I sit here stranded / Sipping margaritas at the Oyster Bar / Talking about Fred Neil, the Dolphins / And all the girls who fell apart / Sister’s always cool / Yes I know / You were lovers once // So I said “Oh, I have a free form soul / And nothing much to hide” / And you said “Hmmm, so what about / Some vanilla ice-cream for the ride?” / And you looked so much like Lana / In a calming synthwave light / I’ll send my sister kiss you for me / Yes, I know / You were lovers once.
7.
Downloading you / On a winters day / Ghostwriting you / Nothing much to say / Riding in your car / Going not too far from here / Driving us apart / From all that should and shouldn’t be / Go, Go / Ghostwriting you // Ghostwriting you / Dim light of the fire place / Expecting you / To manifest through lines instead / Of having so much fun / Down by the river bed of years / Having so much fun / Watching it all end in tears / Go, Go / Ghostwriting you // And even if you loved me still / And wrote it on a dollar bill / Pass it underneath my door / A single line so full of pain / It would be the same / How could I ever tell you how / Things kept going wrong with me / ‘Til every verse was just a howl / Go, Go / Ghostwriting you.
8.
Drug Forest 05:02
Drug forest / Strange glow / Drug forest / Moon hanging low /Drug forest / Strange Glow /Drug Forest / No need to know / You can see the stars / From the pilot seat / When there is no light above / Above the trees // In the dead of night / Listening to Trans Am / Should have let you live your life / Just like this / In the dead of night / You try to spread your wings / Try to chase a distant line / Beneath the trees // Drug forest / still night / Full vision moon / No need to hide / I hope you find a place / Where you can spread your wings / While you close your eyes and ride / Into the trees.
9.
I decided to quit drinking when the ballroom brawl imploded / Into quiet cafeterias and long talks about the soul / Now the chirpin’ of the cellphones risin’ mad against my chrome sun / It wakes me up / I’m in northern Portugal, it’s noon / And the presence of a lost life fills the room / In my dream I been crossing a line of empty stations / With Nicole Kidmans’ Runaway daughter / And oh, the air was pure / And her wedding dress was tailored by the moon // Well I don’t know how it ended up here / In this joint ’round the corner where the wine flows green / And dark eyed maids dance light ‘round the fountain / And a mineral blue sea talks at my feet / And I’m wearing my dark glasses so I can’t hear you talk / ‘Bout bitches and husbands and loans / Down in the Land of the Neon Cross // In my dreams I have been haunted on and on by the same creature / That insisted in flyin’ through the kitchen / Just to bring me the joy of the outside world / Encoded in a hiss I couldn’t hear / As day and night so dream and undream / Cross in stations of a useless divide / Wasteland, twilight, clarity line / You can find it in the most vulgar of lives / Down in the Land of the Neon Cross.

Well they sold you for a dollar / Put you on a train / They say it was hard times / Travelin’ through back then / Erased your name from records / Forgot ’bout you next day / But crossing the plateaus at night / Didn’t seem so bad / Gonna meet the Groom / In some faraway land / I was thinkin’ just to myself, said “Yeah / Gonna meet the Groom one day” // So you settled at a whorehouse / And there you killed a man / Who thought that he was General Lee / When he was just who the fuck cares / So you rambled through the mountains / Where the wild pumas bloom / And lived among the drifting kind / Crazy as a loon / Gonna meet the Groom / In some faraway land / I was thinkin’ just to myself, said “Yeah / Gonna meet the Groom one day” / Headin’ for the settin’ sun / flying like a bluebird on the run // So you drove down to Babylon / But single you remained / There was music all around your head / And music was it all by then / You met a hundred sailors / You met a thousand queens / And you grew up inside while watching / Your beauty fade as mist / Gonna meet the Groom / At some corner down this lane / That was all your thinking then / “Gonna meet the Groom one day”/ Headin’ for the settin’ sun / flying like a bluebird on the run // So you got a Job that you couldn’t quit / Working for The Man / And there you met sweet Johnny Boy / All opium and zen / You were tied to the counter chair / But you can recall the flame / Risin’ like a dagger / And hissin’ like a midnight train / You just met your Groom / He whispered in a smile / You can see him glowin’ through / Another moonlight mile / Gonna Meet the Groom… one day / Heading for the settin’ sun / Flyin’ like a bluebird on the run // He had to leave like others did / Had to leave too soon / You still hear his name here and there / From your hospital room / Oh, long summer nights / You watch them as a dream / When silence is a ribbon there / Like someone just sat the scene / Know he’s gonna take me there / With caring, gentle hand / I Know my name is written / In the golden sands / Gonna meet the Groom / At some corner down this lane / I was just thinking to myself, said “Yeah / Gonna meet the Groom one day”.

Been, for no reason / Rarely touched by love / Racin’ out of season / Where faces come and go / Here I am, Drinkin’ with Jesus / Breakin’ my Midnight parole / Workin’ out of prison / Mending a ray of light / Fixin’ robots – that’s my game / Fixin’ robots – for The Man // Is that Madonna singin’? / You’re dancin’ oh so fine / Hiding in the autumn breeze / Your perfect crystal smile / While Randy California / Is savin’ all our sons / From drownin’ in the ocean / Big Pacific Blue / Fixin’ robots – that’s my game / Oh, I just do it for my friends // Yeah, Randy California / Is savin’ all our sons / From drownin’ in the ocean / Big Pacific Blue.
12.
Lana’s breath is blowin’ west / I just felt it at the liquor store / I was buyin’ some cigarettes / Turnin’ wishes into smoke / Lana’s breath is blowin’ in / Just dissolvin’ all the rust within / New life / New air / Oh to fall in love… again // Now Lana is just breathin’ in / We keep our secrets where the ice is thin / I stand washed by the settin’ sun / Elevated by a golden breeze / Lana’s breath is blowin’ east / Sacred halo of fallen leaves / Inhale / Exhale / See all the beaches bloomin’… again / Inhale / Exhale / See all the beaches blooming / Inhale / Exhale / Oh to fall in love… again.

about

DIGITAL MOTHER - Big Pacific Blue (Twelve Postcards from a California of the Mind)

Big Pacific Blue was dreamt, developed and recorded through spring and summer 2021, and it's a musical / mental trip from the european atlantic coast to the golden shores of an imagined California. A sonic migration that freely plays with genres and narrative in order to enhance the listener's view, from the grim shades of pandemic winter to the autoluminiscent shore of a new possible world, where Randy and Lana rule the seasons. Flow free with it, my friend.
